Proposal to create green space in Marpole
Under a “street-to-park” initiative, the City of Vancouver is proposing to convert short segments of two city streets in Marpole into much-needed public green space.
Residents are welcoming the addition to the community, which has been identified by the City as “deficient” in easy-to-access green space relative to other parts of Vancouver.
One of the two green spaces is proposed for West 72nd Avenue between Selkirk St. and Osler St. as an addition to Ebisu Park. The other space is proposed for Shaughnessy Street in order to extend Shaughnessy Park, which is located on the Fraser River waterfront.
